Esztergom, Hungary

Esztergom has the domed basilica (Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption and Saint Adalbert), an old fort (11th-century royal palace), an archaeological site, and plenty of good restaurants and bars. One could also walk across a bridge to Sturovo, Slovakia.
